Finally, my first win. And it took a ton of coinflipping.

Early on, led the Ace turn with K-9 and was given credit for the A, took down a decent pot.

Raised QQ to 1500, got 2 calls. Flop came Jack high, bet 5K and took it down. (4:37)

Raised on the button to 2400 at 400/800 with JJ, flop came 4-J-A. Bet 2000, opponent shoved, I call and held up and get to 28,300 starting that hand at about 20K. (5:14)

Picked up A-6 in the SB, 4 way limped pot. Flop came A-9-T, I bet 3K and get called. Turn is a King, I bet 4K and get shoved on. Folded, and get shown Q-J for the turned straight. (5:48)

Shoved 14,900 at the final hand of 800/1600 with AQ after one limp and took it down preflop to get to 18,900. Missed a bet with J-7 on a board of 7-T-A-A-3 against a worse 7. In the big blind, picked up 9-5 and flopped 3-5-3, bet 4K into the 6K pot and took it down, 24,900 at the chip-up. (6:03)

UTG raises to 9K, hijack shoves for 18K, I 4-bet shove with A-K to 26K. UTG calls with KQ, hijack had KJ. Ace on the flop and a brick board gets me to 74K. By the final table I have 68K. I picked up J-J in the BB, hijack, cutoff and SB all limped. I shoved 77K total and everyone folded, getting me to 92K. (6:43)

Called an 18K shove in the BB with KQ against two AQs. Called SB next hand with KQ and check-folded the turn. (???)

Best possible run of hands for the later stage of the event came. Picked up A-A at the second hand of 10K/20K, shoved and won. Shoved Ac9c and won and then shoved with KsJs. Picked up about 60K in blinds on those hands. Called someone's 72K shove with A-A to get us to 3 handed.

Adam Dawley and the 2nd place guy got into a huge pot with a pair vs. overcards and I was heads-up with a 3-1 chip disadvantage. Shoved nearly every single hand and won about 3 or 4 coinflips to take the chip lead. Picked up fives, sevens, and started shoving with Q-rag and K-rag, shoved the last hand with 5-5 and got called by 7-4 or something like that to win it all.

8/3/10 Tavern 12

08-03-2010 11:48:40 PM

Started out early with a few encouraging easy takedowns.

Limped with Ac2c, Flopped A-4-8 rainbow. Bet 400, got 2 calls. The turn was a 6, and I got called on a 600 chip bet. River was a 7, bet 800 got called and won the showdown.

Picked up 9-8, flopped a 9 and turned an 8. Shoved on the turn which brought a third club and was called and shown only bottom pair that didn't improve. Hung around between 14 and 18K most of these levels.

Got moved and ran a great bluff at the new table. With blinds at 600/1200 in position I raised to 3000. Got called by UTG who limped preflop and flopped 8s5c2s. Bet 4K to his check, he tank folded and I get moved after that.

Biggest hand for me was picking up T-T in the BB. the three seat limped with blinds at 600/1200 and I raise to 4800. He thinks for a while and calls. Flop comes Tc-6s-9c. I instantly shove 14.8K and he calls with the J-T. Turn comes a 3d and a blank, possibly an Ace. I double up to about 40K.

Worst hand that I need to take time off to look at went as follows. Final hand before the chip up and a 10 minute break, I start with about 40K in the BB with K-7o. The button limps and I check. Flop runs K-Q-2. SB checks, I bet 4K, he calls and checks the turn dark. Heads up, the turn is a 3. I check and he shoves the river dark. This alone shows he has a huge hand and was messing around to confuse me into playing. The river is a 7, and I instantly call, he tables 2-2 for the flopped set.

My biggest problem here was how little I considered what he had. I had top and middle pair and I didn't even consider how many chips he had before calling. I was so convinced I was ahead with the King that when I improved I immediately assumed I had the best hand. His line makes perfect sense, as he checks to get someone to bet the flop. When he knows I have a hand, he calls and checks dark to take his position disadvantage away and he knows I'll bet. When I check the turn he shoves the river dark to make it look like he's trying to buy the pot.

If the river is anything but a King or a 7 I probably fold and save myself money. I only lost 7700 on the poor play, as I'm definitely betting that flop 3 handed. I go from 35K to 28K after the chip-up.

Laid down 2-2 in the big blind with blinds at 2k/4k to a shove to 13k. He said he had 6-6, not sure if that is true or not. Limped Ah-Kh UTG+1 near the bubble. Flop brought a 4, same guy from the other hand had A-4 and scooped my 4K. Worst weak-tight play I've had in a long time came when I folded KQ to a shove with 17 players left. Board would've ran 9-9-K-K-3.

Blinded myself down to nothing, folded Q6 when I could've shoved 9K vs. the 6K shortstack BB. Eventually shoved with Q8 against 10-5 and the board ran 5-5-2-3-4. 12th place.

8/1/10 Kingstown Deepstack

08-02-2010 08:50:04 AM

Easier event with a bigger starting stack... you can afford to sit around a little longer and wait for a spot. Ran two very valuable bluffs, one early on at 300/600. Small blind raised to 1900, the hijack calls, and I called with 6-6 due to the implied odds. If the board runs 6-A-K or something I win a huge pot. The flop actually comes 2-3-4, and assuming that a bet will either get them to fold overcards or get them to raise me right away, their range suggests that a bet will take the pot down more often than not, as it doesn't take a huge hand to call 1900 at 300/600 at an EPT event. Range there goes from a mid to high pair all the way down to something like J-10 suited. I bet 2000 and take down the 4K+ pot, putting me to about 16K

Moved to a new table after the dinner break, and almost immediately get dealt AQ on the button. The hijack makes it 3600 with 600/1200 blinds, I open muck as the SB was very excited about the raise and was already touching chips. He says he had AA, hijack had AK.

I pick up T-T on the button, the cutoff makes it 3,700 at 600/1200, I shove 11,200 more and he calls with Ah8h. Board runs 8c-6d-9h, X of hearts and the Tc to ship me the pot to go to about 28K.

Right before the color-up break, I pick up KQo and raise to 3500 in the cutoff. The BB comments that it's on his blind and calls. Flop comes 3-5-6 and we check-check with me in position. Turn is a 7, he checks and I bet 4K with air. He tanks for a minute and folds.

After a table break moves people over to our table, a short stack shoved 10K with A8, I wake up with AK, call and hold and move to above 40K. A few minutes later I picked up K-10, checked my option and flopped T-9-7. SB bets 5K, I raise to 13, he shoves. I tank fold and never found out what he had. He was a tight player that didn't raise without having a good hand, his range involves way too many hands that beat me that he'd complete the SB with. 6-8, 8-J, T-7, T-9, A-T all beat me badly. Best case scenario he has J-10 or Q-10 or a complete bluff.

Against a different player that just moved over, I had to lay down 5-3 on a 3-4-6 blind battle board and J-9 on a K-J-T board vs. his K-9.

Got blinded down to the final table, had 15K, folded the BB of 9-6, dunked on my SB with K-7 vs. Q-J and 9-9 who was also all in for 17K and I miss and finish 9th. 16 events, 9 Top 16s and 6 final tables. Think I'm up to 365 season points but the site won't update past 7/31.

08-02-2010 08:28:45 AM

Probably the most boring, routine event ever. Flopped two pair and turned a full house early to get to 12K within the first few minutes. Didn't win a pot over the next hour and a half, had about 12K at the dinner break, before I knew it the levels were 1K/2K and I had 7K. Shoved with a King-rag and exited by 9:00.

7/27/10 Tavern 12

07-28-2010 09:53:15 AM

I really don't know why I can't start these events right and eventually have to force myself to win a ton of marginal all-ins.

First hand UTG, AdKs, unraised. Flop comes JsTs2s. Called a bet of 800 from the button, turn was another spade, making me the second nuts. I bet 1000 and got called. River was the Jc, pairing the board. He leads out 1800, I call and he shows J2 for the river full house. Immediately puts me under 7K. Weak-tight playing of AK, if I'm going to limp and play it like any two unpaired cards in the hopes that no one will put me on TPTK if it hits, it has to be played harder than that.

Few hands later, I limp the button with Qd8d and the flop comes Q-high. UTG+2 leads 800, I call. He leads another 800 on the turn and I call. Board is Q-high with a bunch of other low cards, 7-2-6 or something. River is a 5, he checks, I lead 1500, he calls with Q-J. That is perfectly within a random stranger's range, to limp pre-flop and lead the flop. He's not leading with anything I can beat and I should've laid down on the flop. I go down to about 3K. I win a few pots and then get moved a little while later.

At the new table, I have about 1900 and shove with the KcQx and get called by AQo. Flop runs QcAcKc in that order, which looks ridiculous. Turn was a red brick and the river was the 5c, keeping me alive. With blinds at 400/800 I shove 3200 in late position with K5 vs. 9-7 and flop a K. Few hands later, UTG+2 shoves 7800, I shove behind for 7000 with A-Qo vs. his A-6. Board runs 5-7-9-J-K and I get back to 15K.

The most absurd hand for me comes when I shove 11K with Ad4d, blinds must have been around 1K/2K or 2K/4K. I get called by As4s and flop a flush draw and get there on the turn. 28K. With blinds at 2K/4K I shove AQo from the button, and a player calls all-in for about 25K with KJo and I hold again to go to 59K.

Raised AA to 14K with 2K/4K blinds from the SB and got called by the BB. Flop 5hTc3h, I immediately shove all in and he folds a mid PP. Didn't get any real value out of A-A vs. a hand he liked enough to call 14K preflop. If he has the set I lose, if not he probably does some betting for me. Also folded A-9 in the SB, UTG limped with 9-8 and flop came 9-2-3, would've taken a good amount of chips from him and he eventually won.

J-3 in the BB at the final table, SB completes, I check. Flop comes J-J-T, SB bets 20K, I shove, she calls with A-A and I hold and go to 92K. Knocked someone out with K-J vs. A-6 with a K spike on the flop. 3rd place went out with A-10 vs. the winner's J-J.

Heads up, we played about 4 hands, folded K-5 to his raise to 50K. Unraised pot with Q-6, flop comes 2-Q-A, I call 20K on the flop, check-check on the turn, I shove the river and get called by Q-7 which plays.

7/22/10 Brickyard

07-28-2010 09:35:24 AM

Brutal start to this one.

Picked up KK very early on, raised to 1000 and got 3 calls. If anything other than an Ace hits the flop I'm shoving all in and most likely picking up a good pot early on. Ace in the door, middle position leads for 2,000 and I fold. He later says he had A-J.

Few hands later, picked up QQ and raised to 2000, got 2 calls. Flop comes 9-9-3, I shove, and get snapped off by 3-3 who had 6,600 and lose nearly everything.

With 500 chips left with the blinds at 300/600, I dunk with 9-9 and flop Ah-9d-Kd, held vs. the QJo. Later, with 1800 chips I shove with KQo and hit vs. Ad5d.

After the break, I pick up A-A on the button. Guy to my right shoves 7400 with T-T, I call all-in for 3400 and 2 to the left shoves 6600with A-Ko, another player calls all of us with Q-9o. I hold and go to almost 15K.

Not exactly sure how I got eliminated, but I was very shortstacked at either 8/16, 1k/2k or 2k/4k shorthanded and shoved with Kd3d, got called and busted. If I fold that hand I make the top 16 and get a table redraw as the other table lost two people to make the top 15 almost at the same time.

7/18/10 Kingstown Deepstack

07-18-2010 09:44:02 PM

Such a frustrating event.

Saw the first hand from early position with 9-9, 4 or 5 to the flop of J-8-2. Bet 500 on the flop and got raised and re-raised by 8-8 and 8-2. Got out of the way but lost 700 on the hand.

Picked up K-Q off next hand, accidentally raised to 400, flop brought two clubs 9-high. Bet 700, got called. Check-check on the turn, river was the Qc, giving me top pair. He bets out 1300, I fold, he shows the Ad3d bluff.

Aces in the big blind. Same guy raises to 1700, middle position calls. I shove for 12,700, guy from previous hand folded 2-2, and I get called by A-K. Flop brought a K but the hand held and I doubled up to about 24K.

Unfortunately, I raised in position with A-Q a few hands later and get shoved on for another 3200. I fold, he shows Ac-Qc.

I limp UTG with 9-9 (600), get raised, and fold and he shows 5-5. All before 5:05pm.

6c-2c in the big blind, before the table break. Checked, 3 to the flop. Flop comes Qc-2x-3c. Same guy from the AQ/AQ hand dunks all in for 5900. I call and brick and go down to just over 15K.

Picked up K-9, limped, saw the flop with 2 hearts. Called 1300 in position on the flop, turn was a brick. Check-check, river was the Jh (paired board). Bet 1600, got called. Back to 17-18K

Raised out of position with AQ to 1600, got repopped to 3200 with 8-8, folded.

Dunked 9900 with A4, got called by A3, chopped.

Won no hands, dunked 5400 with 2K/4K blinds with K-10, called by J-7, King and Jack on the flop, 7 on the turn.

First event in over 6 months, a sort of early preparation for Vegas even though the game is totally different.
Never really had a hand, doubled-up late with 6-6 and 7-7 vs. the eventual winner, took a pot down with KsQx on an A-J-x-x board with three spades and a river king. People did all the work for me and I essentially folded into 6th place.

1/6/10 Sons of Italy

05-21-2010 02:53:02 PM

2 days before returning to Boston for the last semester, I figured I'd try qualifying/winning one more time after taking 2nd place in this event the week before. Had 9 hands sitting on my phone notepad, figured I'd write them in even though this happened almost 6 months ago and I have very little memory of this event other than how ridiculous the last 30-45 minutes were.

One of the first hands, picked up AT. Cowboys hat raised to 700, I called and there was a call behind. Flop came T63 with two spades. I check, Cowboys bets 1000, I checkraise to 5K, he shoves and I fold. Bad play in the end. No real regret. (8:17)

5-5 all in vs. J-K, flopped a set. (8:17)

Called a raise with 7-9, flopped Th-9d-7h, all in, called by Qc-Jc and the board bricked. (8:41)

Asian girl shoved for 3K, I reshove 13K with KK. Red Sox hat goes all in for 6K. Board 3-8-8-2-7, I make 26K because Red Sox hat had 7s-7c and took his share of the main. (8:45)

Raised Jc-Kc to 3K and Ac-As to 3600 back to back hands. Took 1800 each hand (blinds 600/1200) (8:59)

T-4 off in the BB. SB called, flop 2c-6c-4d. He checks, I bet 1800, he shoves, I fold, he shows 3-5 for the flopped straight. (9:07)

Limped with 8h-9h, flopped 8-9-A. Kid bets 2K, I raise to 8K, he shoves, I call, he has A-5 and the board bricks. (9:27)

Raised to 6K with AQ, shoved 8200 with AK, Q and K on board (???) (9:28)

Shoved once, then shoved with AT vs. short stack AQ and big stack A4. (10:25)

No notes after that so I'm assuming I didn't make anything on that last hand.

1/5/10 Tavern 12

01-06-2010 11:30:46 AM

Made it to the final 20 through a little bit of luck. Definitely lost some chips early on, nothing notable.

Picked up AQ, flopped an ace and turned another ace. Shoved about 5100, got called by A2.

Picked up KK on the button, raised to 3000 at 600/1200 after it was folded around and took it down, to about 9.5K.

Shoved with KdQd, exact same hand I busted HU with. called by AJ, Ace on the flop, running KQ avoiding the flush to stay in, doubled up to about 14K.

Shoved with AK for 15K, called by Jacks, bricked the board.

1/3/10 Kingstown 7pm

01-06-2010 09:56:01 AM

Brutal early exit.

Raised to 600 with KK, got reraised to 1200, 4-bet to 2700. Flop came A-T-T, checked and folded to the all in bet. Definitely could've used a better flop.

Raised to 800 with AK, got 3 calls (3200 pot). Flopped air, bet 1500 and took it down.

Took an unraised flop with 5Q in the BB. Flop 55J. Checked around, turn J. Checked around, river Q. Bet 600, got raised to 1200, called, she had QK.

Lost a little money calling off, and after the dinner break, shoved in the SB with K9o, BB woke up with AQ and I bricked the board.

12/30/09 Son's of Italy

12-31-2009 12:32:44 PM

First time playing over there, nice room. Good crowd of 72 people. Started out very boring, only a couple hands. Reraised with KK and took down a nice pot after two to my right called the big preflop raise. Went into the dinner break with about 17K.

Picked up 5-9 in the big blind, flopped 5-4-5. Got it all in against 7-7, and dragged about a 30K pot after Gerry misread the board.

Very few hands to remember as I was concerned with keeping the action moving at the table rather than making notes. Had about 80K at one point in the final 2 tables, accompanied by my first pink chips in a while. Won one pot before the final table and went into the final 8 with about 100K. Got the blinds early, then woke up with a few big hands. Able to raise the 10K-20K blinds to 80K and pick up a few rounds with Q-Q and A-T. Busted kid to my left with 7-7 vs. 4-4.

Huge hand with 10-7, took an unraised pot and flopped A-10-7. Eventual winner Gerry was all in with a couple big cards with no money, and the player to his left had A-Q. My two pair held, but the board four-flushed and Gerry stayed in by winning the small main pot. We check-check'd the other guy out, and his wife was soon eliminated in 3rd.

Went into heads up with a huge advantage, 550K-170K. Was offered a deal for all the money in exchange for giving him the win and the spot in the tournament and didn't take it. Biggest regret of the final table. Early on I picked up A-6, shoved, got called by A-7, and the 7 hit the flop. Should've been a split and it brought us practically back to even with the blinds at 30K-60K. Total chips in play, 720K. Average stack, 360K. Average stack had 6 BB.

Went card dead and wasn't playing my best heads up game. Gave him a few walks just waiting for a hand, gave up one hand, got one back.

Busted with Kd-Qd vs. Ad-Jd in second place starting the hand with only about 200K. 4th top 16 appearance in 7 games, 3rd final table.

I'm coming back for a legit win.

9/3/09 Brickyard

12-31-2009 12:07:59 PM

Almost instant elimination. Overplayed three hands and was out in about 15 minutes.

9/1/09 Tavern 12

09-01-2009 11:13:19 PM

Quite different from the Brickyard. Went totally and utterly card dead up until the dinner break. Took a pot early on but hung around 10K. Raised OOP with KdJd for lack of anything else, to 1500. Got called, and flopped nothing but air. Checked, got bet and folded. Next hand, picked up JJ, again made it 1500 preflop (blinds 300/600), got reraised to 5K by the guy across from me. I fold face up, he shows 7-7.

Hung around 6K for too long. Right before the table broke, I shove with KJ, get called by J7 and flop two kings. After moving to the next table with about 8K or more, I shove JTc, get called by 7-7 and flop a ten. Shoved AK and didn't get called.

Had one loose limp with KQd, the raise that I folded to held AK. Folded AT cold to what would've been a big pot, then folded QJc with 9K to an 8K raise and would've flopped two clubs.

Every time I picked up a hand, someone picked up a hand behind me, right down to the hand I held 58o and got raised from the SB by QQ.

Finally, picked up AQo, dunked 9K, guy to left reshoved for 48K with KTd and flopped a flush.

8/30/09 Brickyard

08-30-2009 08:48:22 PM

Subbing the Brickyard bar for the booked Kingstown Bowl, I ran hotter than ever in the first few levels, not able to fold a hand for a while. Lots of medium-big aces, K10, KQ, little pairs, tons of hands to see flops with.

First chip dump happened when I saw a raised pot with A6s, and flopped an ace. I bet the flop and got called. Villain shoves the turn for a little more than pot, I fold face up and he shows QQ.

Crazy sequence of hands to end the second hour. I pick up AK extremely shortstacked in the BB with blinds of 3K/6K. UTG raises to 12K, UTG+1 (sunshine) shoves 24K total and the button calls 24K. SB folds and I fold reluctantly. Flop came 33A, and UTG+1 tabled A9 by the end of the hand (board 33A3T so we would've chopped), the others had next to nothing. I misdeal two hands later and the proper deal gives me QQ. I take the blinds down, then double up by shoving 11K with Q8 vs. 66 and flopping an 8.

By the final table, I'm very short and dunk 25K preflop with ATo and get called by 7-7 and flop an ace. 59K turns short soon, especially after I limp with A2h and miss. Eventually dunked 39K all in with 4-4 and get called by A-K. River is an Ace, ending my day in 6th.

8/23/09 Kingstown Deepstack

08-24-2009 10:13:57 AM

Dug myself a hole early on. Called off 1,200 with 6h7h and bricked. Called off 1,400 with AQo and missed again. Got a flop with 3-3, about 4 handed. Early position. Flop 5-Q-J, checked around. Turn another Q, I bet 1,000. Got called by the button. River was a blank, I bet another 1,500 and got called by A-K high and took it down.

Really started playing well after the first few levels. Picked up 9-9 and called a raise in position. Flop 5-8-5, checked to me and I bet 1,500. Villain thinks and calls. Turn is a J, he checks, I bet 3,500, he thinks even longer and lays it down.

And sometimes we get really lucky. I always manage to hit a huge hand right before a break. Limped with Tc9c and saw a flop four handed. Flop comes T-9-7. I called a bet of 1,000 and we go HU to the turn which is another 9. I bet 2,500, he makes it 5,000 and I put him all in for another 5 or so. He calls with 9-8 and is drawing dead.

Went completely card dead from about 38K to the end. Picked up A-7, made it 7K with blinds 1K/2K and ran into AK in the BB. Stole a few pots, ended up with 20K with blinds 3K/6K and dunked with A-9. Called by K-Jo and the flop came J high.

Bubbled second event in a row, 17th.

8/21/09 Dave and Busters

08-22-2009 05:31:30 PM

Very uneventful. Got picked off in two hands early on making continuation bets with a weak ace and Jacks. Raised big with JJ, got called, flop came K-7-5 all diamonds and EP bet before I could c-bet. Right before the break, very standard, limped in with Jc9c and flopped the rainbow nut straight. Same EP from other hand doubled me up. Won a race a few hands later preflop with 7-7 vs. A-10, flop came 10-9-7 and the rest of the board bricked. Had no hands, tried stealing from the SB with A-7, BB woke up with AK and the board bricked. Dunked with K-9, flopped 10-9-x, KQ caught up with the J.

8/9/09 Kingstown Deepstack

08-09-2009 08:37:37 PM

First event. Got to 23K early by hitting some hands and making people fold to big raises. Eventually was down to 6K with the blinds at 1000/2000. Picked up QQ UTG and shoved. Two calls, the board ran out K J K x T and I triple up as I was shown Q2. Next hand, I pick up AA and raise to 8K. I get called and the flop comes Q-high. I shove for another 10.5K and get called and hold. Few hands later I pick up 10-10 UTG+1 and call a shove of about 13K vs. 3-3 and hold. I enter the color-up break at 69K

After the break, I pick up Q8 and raise the cutoff to 15K with blinds at 3K/6K and get called HU. Flop comes 4-3-3, checks HU on the flop, turn is a blank and I fire 15K and win.

Went card dead from around 100K to the final table, picked up A-10, raised to 15K and someone shoved for another 13K. I call vs. A-J and lose.

Between 70K and 20K I was essentially blinded off quick, shoved AJo and got called by 2-2 and lost in 4th place for 95+16=111 points.
