That's right for the second time in a row, Mike Wright takes down the Battle of Champions.
Mike Wright was able to successfully get past the very challenging field of the only 40 players in the tour with 4 wins or more. Mike was never a commanding stack throughout the tournament, he showed that patience, well timed aggression, and a little bit of luck was the perfect equation for taking down the Battle of Champions with its slow structure and small field of players!
Top 3 players, all from Southern Massachusetts, all felt the cash prize of $2,000- was worth more to them then the $4,000- WSOP Academy Package. These three players decided to chop 3 ways, with the win and and extra $200- going to the winner. Typically a chop would slow play down, but with the prestige and bragging rights associated with the battle win, top 3 went on for another 1.5 hours!
Players who made it into the money were:
Mike Wright $800-
Bill Landry $600-
John Murray $600-
